Crypto Percentage Calculator
Calculate the percentage increase or decrease between two cryptocurrency prices. Enter a starting price and a new or target price to instantly see the price change, percentage gain or loss and price multiple.
Calculate a Crypto Percentage Change
Enter the starting price and the new or target price to calculate the percentage increase or decrease.
This calculator uses only the prices you enter. No live market data is required, and the result should not be interpreted as a cryptocurrency price prediction.
How to Calculate Crypto Percentage Change
Percentage change measures how much a cryptocurrency price has increased or decreased relative to its starting price.
The difference between the new price and starting price is divided by the starting price and multiplied by 100.
Percentage Change = ((New Price − Starting Price) ÷ Starting Price) × 100
A positive result represents a price increase, while a negative result represents a price decrease.
How to Use the Crypto Percentage Calculator
The calculator can be used with historical prices, current prices or hypothetical target prices.
Enter the Starting Price
Enter the cryptocurrency price from which you want to measure the change.
Enter the New Price
Enter the current, historical or hypothetical target price you want to compare with the starting value.
See the Percentage Change
The calculator displays the price difference, percentage gain or loss and corresponding price multiple.
How to Calculate a Crypto Percentage Increase
When the second price is higher than the starting price, the result is a percentage increase.
For example, suppose a cryptocurrency rises from $2 to $3.
(($3 − $2) ÷ $2) × 100 = +50%
The price increased by $1. Because that $1 increase represents half of the original $2 price, the cryptocurrency gained 50%.
How to Calculate a Crypto Percentage Loss
When the second price is lower than the starting price, the percentage change is negative.
Suppose a cryptocurrency falls from $2 to $1.50.
(($1.50 − $2) ÷ $2) × 100 = −25%
The price declined by $0.50, representing a 25% decrease from the original $2 price.
Why a Percentage Loss and Recovery Are Not the Same
One important feature of percentage changes is that a loss and the gain required to recover from that loss are not symmetrical.
If a cryptocurrency falls by 50%, it must subsequently rise by 100% from the lower price to return to its original value.
$100 → $50 = −50% | $50 → $100 = +100%
The percentage calculation uses the starting value for each move. After the decline, the new starting value is only $50, so a $50 recovery represents a 100% increase.
Crypto Percentage Gain vs Price Multiple
Large cryptocurrency price movements are also commonly described using multiples such as 2x, 5x or 10x. A multiple represents the final price relative to the starting price, while percentage gain measures only the increase above the starting value.
2x Price
A price that doubles reaches 2x its starting value, corresponding to a 100% increase.
5x Price
A price reaching five times its starting value corresponds to a 400% increase.
10x Price
A price reaching ten times its starting value corresponds to a 900% increase.
How to Convert Crypto Multiples Into Percentages
To convert a price multiple into a percentage gain, subtract 1 from the multiple and multiply the result by 100.
Percentage Gain = (Price Multiple − 1) × 100
For example, a 4x price represents a 300% increase because the first 1x represents the original value.
- 1.5x = +50%
- 2x = +100%
- 3x = +200%
- 5x = +400%
- 10x = +900%
- 20x = +1,900%
Using Percentage Change With Crypto Price Targets
The calculator can also show how large a move would be required for a cryptocurrency to reach a hypothetical target price.
For example, if a cryptocurrency trades at $0.25 and you want to examine a $1 target, entering those two values shows that the target is four times the starting price.
$0.25 → $1.00 = +300% = 4x
The price would need to increase by 300% from $0.25 to reach $1.00. Its final price would be four times the starting value.
This calculation describes the size of the hypothetical price move. It does not estimate whether the target is realistic or how likely the cryptocurrency is to reach it.
Does a 100% Crypto Price Increase Double an Investment?
If an investor holds the same quantity of cryptocurrency throughout the move and transaction costs are ignored, a 100% increase in the token price would also double the value of that position.
For example, a $1,000 position exposed to a 100% price increase would have a hypothetical value of $2,000 before fees, taxes or other costs.
Does a 10x Price Always Mean a 10x Market Cap?
If circulating supply remains unchanged, a 10x increase in token price corresponds mathematically to a 10x increase in market capitalization.
However, cryptocurrency supply can change over time. New token issuance, mining, unlocks, emissions or burns can change circulating supply, meaning a future price comparison may not translate directly into the same market-cap multiple.
Market Cap = Price × Circulating Supply
Changes in circulating supply should therefore be considered when evaluating longer-term cryptocurrency price targets.
What This Crypto Percentage Calculator Cannot Tell You
The calculator measures the mathematical difference between two prices. It does not evaluate the probability, timing or investment implications of a future cryptocurrency price move.
- It does not predict future cryptocurrency prices.
- It does not determine whether a target price is realistic.
- It does not estimate how long a price movement could take.
- It does not account for changes in circulating supply.
- It does not include trading fees, taxes or other transaction costs.

Crypto Percentage Calculator FAQ
How do I calculate the percentage increase in crypto?
Subtract the starting price from the new price, divide the difference by the starting price and multiply by 100. For example, an increase from $10 to $15 represents a 50% gain.
How do I calculate the percentage loss on crypto?
Use the same percentage-change formula. If the new price is below the starting price, the result will be negative. A decline from $100 to $75 represents a 25% loss.
What percentage increase is 2x?
A 2x final price represents a 100% increase. The asset is worth twice its original value.
What percentage increase is 5x?
A 5x final price represents a 400% increase from the starting value.
What percentage increase is 10x?
A 10x final price represents a 900% increase. The original value accounts for the first 1x, with the remaining 9x representing the gain.
What gain is needed to recover from a 50% crypto loss?
After a 50% loss, the remaining value must increase by 100% to return to the original level.
Is a target percentage a price prediction?
No. The calculator only measures the mathematical difference between the two prices entered. It does not estimate the likelihood that a cryptocurrency will reach a particular price.
